This collection is rife with stories that have a great setup and an abrupt, sometimes mystifying ending. It's got to be an editorial choice because it shows up over and over. Isaac Asimov's essay regarding science fiction becoming science fact is the standout - for example he talks about maser clocks, which have started going up in satellites in the modern day.
