Oh how I've missed Harry Dresden. This graphic novel was fantastic in every way. Really enjoyed it. On to the Storm Front graphic novel!

I love Harry Dresden, wish he would come back to tv land.

"http://nwhyte.livejournal.com/1254921.html[return][return]This is a graphic novel based on a series of books by Jim Butcher which had a TV show as well; but it was all new to me, and I only got it because it is on the Hugo shortlist.[return][return]It's actually very good. Our hero, Harry Dresden, is a hardboiled private investigator who also happens to be a wizard, and is routinely called in to help solve mysterious cases in Chicago. The plot here, involving odd goings-on and strange deaths in the Lincoln Park Zoo, is pretty straightforward; the villain, being English, is easy to spot, and the rest is just routine defeat the bad guys stuff. But it is told vividly and with a certain humour, and very well drawn by Ardian Syaf. This is my first encounter either with the Dresden Files or with Syaf's work, and it has certainly whetted my enthusiasm for both - especially for Syaf."

This graphic novel follows the adventures of Harry Dresden, Chicago's only warlock consultant. This book has Harry going to the zoo where the animals are attacking people. Harry has to fight some Hecatean hags to stop them from becoming gods.

Graphic novel prequel to the Dresden files series. Not sure how many are in Graphic novel format, but it was a fun, quick read after reading Stormfront.

I didn't like this book at all. The Dresden story line line was okay, but it was produced as a graphic novel, and the visualization really failed for me.

In the introduction to the book Jim Butcher comments that the illustrated Harry Dresden matched the Harry that existed in his mind's eye. Perhaps this is true, but it was the portrayal of the character Will that disappointed me. Drawn in passive poses that emphasized female sexual characteristics, I felt no great sympathy for the victim when the inevitable bad guy attacks happened.

This is a introduction book to the Dresden Files series. I like that it isn't an adaptation of one of the other books and it can stand on its own. I thought it was well done but I guess I like my Harry formed out of words and my own imagination for all the strange creatures.
