Unlike most here, I am not that much of a reader. I wish to be and have been coming here to find ideas for the next novel to dive into. I picked this from the Kindle editors picks having scanned and read the descriptions of the books and it was a nice find. I liked both murder mysteries and the set up, of the editor turned detective made book writing seemed much more tangible and interesting. I had trouble putting it down. I often read kind of poorly written but fast paced, plot-driven books. This was decidedly better written and it was a joyful reminder of how much more interesting books are when they are well written.

Meh. It was well written and the cover is so cool. But I didn’t like it. I don’t like to think of authors as crappy people- I want them on a pedestal always and forever. The first part, the Atticus story reminded me of Chief Inspector Gamache, but then the next part about Alan made me want to quit and just read the next Chief Inspector Gamache. I’m sure a lot of people liked this, but if you ask me...go read a Chief Inspector Gamache instead. I did like Susan though. #engelbrechtreads2019 #engelbrechtreads #theycantallbewinners
