Nieciekawa, przydługa i bez napięcia. Zaskoczenie rozczarowuje.
Dodatkowo znalazłam w książce błędy logiczne lub w tłumaczeniu (np. Lucas powiedział Lucasowi).
Nie polecam

I am, yet again, perplexed at the number of 5 star ratings awarded this book. Until the last thirty pages, I may have been able to understand a reader having an appreciation of Abbott’s craftsmanship; however, any redeeming qualities were lost to one of the most inane conclusions ever penned. I just don’t understand a prolific author like Abbott ever thinking that this in any way worked. I am so disgusted with the betrayal of reader trust that I am loathe to spend even one more minute bothering to write a review. Listen, when someone invests hours reading a lengthy piece of work, the expectation is a payoff of at least a plausible finale. Unfortunately, Abbott falls so far short that I wonder if she simply tripped over the finish line and threw her hands up, yelling, “I give up!” Seriously. It’s the only explanation that makes any sort of sense. Read to enjoy the journey, but be aware that the destination is a profound disappointment.

This really was an intriguing one and I was glued almost instantly.
A group of old friends and their partners gather for pre-wedding celebrations down in Cornwall.
But a tragic accident on the morning of the wedding leaves them all shocked and the upcoming celebrations not surprisingly cancelled.
Now a year later on the exact same date, they have all been invited back by there host Lucas to play a game.
One that will expose long-buried secrets and rivalries within the group.
Nobody knows who to trust and everyone's a suspect.
Full of twists and turns and suspenseful intrigue this was a page-turner of a read that was impossible to put down and I managed to consume this in one complete sitting.
I did kind of guess a few things regarding the conclusion here but that didn't take away from my overall enjoyment.
A fantastic read that I highly recommend.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of The Murder Game (Stephanie King #2).

This one was an interesting one. Unlike most mysteries I actually had no idea who did it or what was going on.
The pacing and everything was good too. There were a lot of pages but I didn't feel like it was dragging.
I was a little annoyed when I found out this was book 2 in a series because I thought I was going to miss something because it was mentioned in book 2 but this stands on its own. There might be more backstory to the detective in the first book but I don't care too much about that.
Wasn't thrilled at the end when it was all like "oh but she isn't dead tho" like I could've done without that twist. It seemed a bit lame to be honest.
Also to drug and kidnap someone because they knew too much and would ruin the whole thing if they called the police is so excessive and for Jemma just to forgive them is crazy. Like nah mate you still caused me to fear for my life. Go to jail.
Aside from that I liked it. The mystery wasn't too easy to solve - or I'm an idiot maybe people saw it coming a mile off - and the reveals were shocking to me. Minus the Alex didn't die thing.
So yeah not bad. Like always it took me a while go get the names straight. I mean I still was confused anytime they mentioned Nick like who even is he lol but yeah I picked it up eventually. I don't know how to get better at not being overwhelmed by lots of new characters but as long as I figure out who is who by the end its fine lol

i was very gripped by the story from the beginning, though i wouldn’t necessarily call it psychological horror. there were a lot of twists along the way, and some of the creative decisions weren’t ones i would make, but i found myself both surprised and gratified with the ending. in the end, a book with twists is a book i like

Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor!!! Wowza!!!!
I haven't read a book that has strung me along and pulled at all of my senses like "The Invitation" in a while!!!
Rachel Abbott is going on my list of favorite authors, for sure!
This amazing book alternates perspectives from 3 women. Jemma, Nina, and DI Stephanie King.
Jemma's husband's best friend from high school is getting married and has invited his closest out to his family home for the celebration. The groom's sister is found dead the day of the wedding and it's ruled a suicide. A year later, the groom invites them all back to play 'the murder game' and to figure out who killed his sister. Dun, dun, dunnnnnnnnn!!!!
This story had all of the drama of friends that have known each other forever. I gobbled up every minute of it and I'm sad now that I've finished it.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and of course, Rachel Abbott for providing me with an ARC.
