I like this series and this book was pretty good, except I didn't care at all about Alex Thorne in the mental institute. Those chapters were wasted on me and I ended up skipping a lot of them to get back to the main story.

Blood Lines: book five in Ms Marson's DI Kim Stone series was an interesting read, as the story on the whole was very readable, well-paced and packed with twists basically everything I've come to expect and love from a DI Kim Stone story. But it also featured an old enemy Dr Alexandra Thorne and unfortunately for me, I'm not a fan, and just as in Evil Games I found her to be a rather uninspiring adversary.

Yet, everything else about this crime thriller was on point, especially the main characters who are all really coming into their own and I am looking forward to seeing how this series develops.

Would recommend.

I guess that 2021 is the year I finally catch up with this series... Blood Line is already the sixth book of the DI Kim Stone series I've had the chance to read this year, and there is no doubt that it is another satisfying read. This is a series that just keeps delivering, and book five is another suspenseful, dark, twisted and engaging story... A little warning if you haven't read the previous books yet: an important character first featured in book two Evil Games returns in this sequel (Doctor Alexandra Thorne), so it's definitely important to read at least that story to avoid huge spoilers. Talking about Alexandra Thorne: while I do get why the author decided to return to this character, I'm having mixed feelings about having to deal with her again. She is great for the plot and excellent for building up tension, but there was just something about her and the constant focus on Kim's past that started to annoy me. This is only a minor blip though as the rest of the plot mostly made up for it. Kim Stone and her team have another intriguing case to investigate, and as always I had a great time following them around and seeing their different personalities shine. Some of the final reveals were a tad farfetched for me, but as a whole this was another solid sequel and I definitely can't wait to read the next book (although I do hope this is the last we see of Alexandra Thorne to be honest).

A woman’s body is found in a car - she has died from a single stab wound and the killer has left no trace. DI Kim Stone and her team are given the case and soon another body with a similar wound is discovered but there doesn’t seem to be a link between the victims. While the case continues Kim is distracted by communications from her nemesis from a previous case - Dr Alexandra Thorne. Alex is determined to break through Kim’s defences and will use any means necessary. As the investigation continues the killer targets one close to the team and Kim finally confronts her mother. Can’t get enough of this series - absolutely brilliant.

Вроде бы есть тут интересный сюжет, неожиданные повороты и даже не похожие друг на друга персонажи, но всё равно читать эту книгу было ужасно скучно!!!!
