I highly, emphatically recommend this to all true book lovers. The story is well-told and meticulously unfolded for the reader. I read most of it last night and today - I could not wait to discover the ending.
My review does NOT do this book justice. Also, I want to join a book club now.

I️ loved so much about this book! The fact that it’s about the impact books have on someone and the discussion and words that take place in a book club group are enough for me to love! However, throw in the story line, character development throughout and the constant reference to literature and the need for it in someone’s life - Love! Not to mention the fact that I️ pretty much feel the same way about books as described here - I️ love the smells of them and bookstores, the recommendations from other avid readers and sharing ideas and thoughts with others! A great read for every book lover out there!
I really got into this one. Not only did it persuade me to put some classics on my reading list that I haven't read yet, but I really cared about the characters and what happened to them. Some of the twists in the book I had figured out, but not all of them!
I know there are probably plenty of readers who have complained about the ending being too tidy, too unbelievable, too “Really!?!!??” But I loved this book for its book club meetings and titles discussed, for the atmospheric bookstore and its quirky/compassionate owner, for its exploration of grief and guilt, for the mystery surrounding a young girl’s tragic death, for more than one character’s descent into hell and ultimately choosing to come back into the light. This was a page-turner for me, a book I definitely looked forward to reading every morning when I woke up to spend some more porch time with it. A soul-satisfying read, just what I needed these days.
I am so glad this book was my 100th I've read this year. So fitting it was a book about the book that matters most. I throughly enjoyed the writing and the themes. One of my favorite parts though is that she is unattached when the book ends. Will she end up with John? Possibly. But that wasn't what the story was about. It was about grief and sacrifices and change.
This was the first book in a long time that I got lost in. I enjoyed the story even though parts were unrealistic. It was great up to the end. I hated the end, but it didn’t ruin the book.
Wow! This book was better than I expected. I picked it up because it was about a book club where they take turns reading the "Book That Matters Most" for each member. But then I got sucked into the story of the protagonist. The closer it got to the end, the harder it was to put down. I couldn't wait to see how it was going to end. A little far-fetched in a couple of places, but it was still fun to read.
A little domestic tragedy, a little enigmatic, a little self discovery...I liked this book much more than I thought I would.
Sweet story, but a bit predictable. Choosing the book that matters most to you is an interesting topic which gave me something to think about.

When I read the title and description, what I was really hoping for was a book that goes into how books can save people, and change their lives. This was not the book I had hoped for. I honestly could not stand most of the characters in this story.
