Slaughter writes a good thriller. The murders are brutal and the chase for the killer is twisty with several surprises as the tale unfolds. It takes  while to get its footing, but that’s not surprising for the first book in a series. I’ll definitely pick up the next, but (and I know this is blasphemous) I may like the TV show better, at least for now. Pedophilia is one of my least favorite plots. I’m horrified and sickened by the crimes in this one.

This book starts of really well, and you wont be able to see it coming, and as the story moves on it talk about the life of main character in between, gets somewhat repetitive and ends with a easy predictable plot.
That doesn't mean its bad book, just the that opening was just too god damn good

Good opening book of a series.
jaw dropping when they reveal that the neighbor
was only 15
I had to go back and re listen.
Toward the end it felt like it got gratuitously bloody and gave me the ick.

The most graphic book I a read so far.

Didn't see any of the twist coming. The only thing I did know was that Karin Slaughter made you feel sympathetic for a convicted rapist and murder and you knew he didn't do it. But if he did then who did??

Will be carrying on with the Will Trent series because I am interested in where the characters is going.
