I was not expecting to like this book as much as I did. I expected an easy listen while doing household chores. But I found myself really interested in the characters and dynamics. Gretchen is definitely not likeable at first, and it's easy to see why Charlie is hesitant to believe her. I liked the parallels between Everett and Gretchen. They are both very lonely souls. The ending made me tear up a little bit

when Everett talked about how nobody showed up to his funeral and he was glad that Gretchen would miss him. I was also glad that there was no third act breakup at least not in the traditional sense.
