I’ve seen the Amazon Prime series come up here and there, so that along with the fact that summer is ending, I decided to give this series a try. I’m not very good about watching series I say I’ll watch, so I figured reading the books was the next best thing.
Part of me was nervous about starting this book, because I worried Belly would be a pick me girl. I was a mix between indifferent and put off by her. She could be pretty irritable and selfish, and I was not a fan of her mood swings.
Conrad was broody and gave mixed signals, while Jeremiah was more outgoing, and they both had an air of protectiveness when it came to Belly. However, I found myself preferring Jeremiah over Conrad. He was one of the only two characters I liked in this book (the other was his mom).
I wasn’t really connecting to the story or the characters at first, just felt kind of meh about everything. It felt like I was just an observer passing through, in a sense. It wasn’t until 32% that I felt like things were starting to pick up. And I had to admit, there were some emotional parts.
I wanted to love this book. I really did. But overall, this one just wasn’t for me. I don’t think I’ll be reading the next books.

I loved it!! I thought it was gonna be cheesy, but I was blown away!

If I’m being completely honest here, I did watch the show before I read the book. HOWEVER, they were different enough that I think of them as two different things; but I also see where they are the same and that keeps them connected in my mind.

I definitely recommend both watching the show and reading the book!

Edit: looking back, it wasn’t as amazing to me as i first thought. i was caught up in the show lol but i didn’t hate it!

The book is cute and fun. I like the plot I guess but mostly I just feel like this girl is a mess and needs to be a little bit less self centered, but also idk. Who isn’t at 14

Belly is truly insufferable as only a teenage girl can be
