A couple standouts in The Night Wire, The Clock, and Shadetree, but mostly a little forgettable.

It's been a LONG time since I've read an anthology where all the stories were strong. The Best of Pulphouse might have been the last one, and I read that over twenty years ago. Then again, none of the anthologies I've read have been picking from horror stories published over the last 100+ years, so maybe that has something going for it.

This is a novelty publication, printed in limited numbers, but most of the stories should be easily found either on the Internet (for the public domain stories) or through other anthologies. If nothing else, this book serves as a good "playlist" for some eerie, creepy horror stories.

A beautiful collection, full of genuinely spooky tales. Everything I want in my October and more -- so glad they've got another one coming out this year.

3.5-5/5 Some eerie, some creepy and some a little slow.
