Sing Me Forgotten by Jessica S. Olson is a gender bent retelling of The Phantom of The Opera. The magic system was really cool. Imagine being able to extract people’s memories through song.
Isda is a gravoir—a person who is born with a disfigured face and the ability to extract and alter memories through song. At birth, they are sentenced to death. But Isda was found by a man who runs an opera house, Cyril. She’s been altering the audiences memories to make the show more enjoyable.
But Isda’s life changes when she meets Emeric. He has the most beautiful singing voice she’s ever done. He may be her undoing.
This book is beautifully written. The ending tore my heart to pieces.
Read this if you’re looking for a book full of love, magic, and betrayal.
4 out of 5 memory elixirs.

A gender-bent fantasy retelling of The Phantom of the Opera?! Yes please!
Forbidden magic, music, masquerades-there is a lot to be wowed by in this story. The world-building done by Olson is quite well-crafted and this was a book that I could not stop reading (or talking about). Were some elements predictable? Yeah, but I wouldn't have changed a thing.
For Libraries: Buy this & watch your readers fall in love with the magical world of Isda and Emeric.

DNF at 34%. I wanted to like the fantasy element, but the magic system was barely explained and I didn’t enjoy the pacing at all. I might try to pick it back up, but I have other things I’d rather be reading for now.
This book is great! I don’t know why people are giving it such low ratings because they didn’t like how the main character ended up, hello, it’s a YA gender flipped retelling or The Phantom of the Opera, did you expect it to be a happy story? It was incredibly well written and paced with a great well thought out magic system and world building.
