I mostly enjoyed this book but Lucy as a character annoyed me. I felt like it was quite obvious about James and found it frustrating at times! Nathan however was dreamy and I loved the opening scenes in Sydney! I will definitely read more Paige Toon after this and have heard amazing things about her other books.

4.5

Woah. This book.
In the beginning I thought all the things between Nathan and Lucy were a little bit fast-paced but this ended pretty soon. The book was reaaaaaally cute, really, just cute. The end was a little bit long-drawn-out but it was cool. I really enjoyed this book.

reread 2020:

still a 4.5, it's a lovely book that it's just not good enough for me to be a five star book
I still love this book. It's cute, it's romantic and it makes you feel good inside. Reading this raised another wave of homesickness for New Zealand in me, I just could relate so much to Lucy's inner conflict between England and Australia (although my experience of being an exchange students can in no way be compared to living in a country for an extended amount of time, establishing a life there and then moving away from it) There's just something about books in Australia that makes me feel a certain way of nostalgia - even though I've never been to Australia myself. It might be because it's so close to New Zealand or that Australia would have been my second choice when it came to where I would do my exchange - no matter why, I guess you can say books set in Australia are my guilty pleasure, it's a phantasy of mine that I like to read about.
having read this a second time 'round, I can say for certain that I'm highly interested in Paige Toon's other books. I actually already caught myself last night, browsing for her books online - for now I haven't picked one that I want to read, we'll see!

This was a reread for me, but I read it some years ago and my brain quite easily forgets things!

Not my average read, it's definitely in the chick lit side of fiction which I tend to avoid. However, despite the author constantly telling us what people looked like and slipping in brand names for no apparent reason, I did enjoy the overall story. Who doesn't love a good love story with some drama?! I actually miss the characters now it's over.

Again characters written as if they are friends. Loved the storyline and the journey. Not the way I thought it would go but that made it better for me
