It’s a great book. However, the copyright indicates that it’s good for 4th grade to 8th grade. I’d say some younger students would have difficulty with the dark content.cozylifewithabby's review

This book was inspiring, heart breaking, and informative. The language is easy as it is a Middle Grade/YA, but the story is important as it combines different people's real experiences in the Korean War (including the author's mother) into a fictional narrative of a young girl and her brother.
Graphic: Misogyny
Moderate: Excrement, Child death, Death of parent, War, and Vomit
