Honest a solid popcorn read. It was a fast paced read, but definitely could have been fleshed out a little more. It seemed like the story hit a point where they wanted it to end and leave some backstory for future books. All in all I think this has potential to be a fun series.

I enjoyed this story. It was fast paced and exciting. It ended with the potential for a sequel, so I hope we get to see more of Blackwood.
I liked the story and I liked the characters. Except for Obediah. Every time Obediah talked, a brain cell died *laughs* So cartoonish evil, shees!
But I liked how we slowly get the story of Blackwood and Solomon, and how they involve Odessa in it. And I found the ending enticing enough to want to know what happens next.
Brittany Pressley's narration is excellent.

I’ve enjoyed it, but found it slow and I kinda lost my interest in a few places but it was good.
Probably 2 1/2 stars. I was expecting a nail-biting sci-fi/fantasy diversion but felt let down after finishing. Interesting premise but felt underdeveloped and underwhelming.

I’m giving up on this one halfway through. The beginning was more or less interesting, but I mostly wanted to continue because this is the second book I’ve come across that is releasing this year and inspired by Algernon Blackwood. I thought it would be an interesting comparison. However, the pacing was odd and just got worse once John Silence finally showed up. And then we got to talking about other religions and... it’s just not very culturally sensitive.
