I really liked everything about this story and all the characters - except for the ending. It was just so so so anticlimactic. Like I think that may have been my least favourite ending ever. But besides that I liked everything else. Avery was so strong, Chloe was so bubbly and resilient, Ryker so grumbly but soft, Zack so wounded but loving, and Cass was sweet and a great leader of the group. I liked the slow burn, i didn’t really need more spice but it would have been cool to read that group scene instead of just gloss over it.
I still can’t get over how lame that ending was.
It made it feel rushed and like we don’t even get to know who died who killed him how he died etc. like I need to know these details. It was literally just like oh no I think something is gunna happen tonight - oh something is happening distantly - okay it’s over. Like HUH??? Lame.
I hate that it’s kinda overshadowing the rest of the book but please hear that I REALLY liked the book , just not the ending

I love the single parent running from abuse trope and this did it so well, especially for a why choose novel. It was really good but -2 stars for the extremely unnecessary ableist slur thrown in there. Literally no point in using that word. It's lazy writing and fucking disgusting. I wanted to read other books by this author because it's a good book, but I don't support ableist writers.

Exactly what I needed to read

One of my favorite tropes for sure and Reese knocked it out of the park. Who doesn't love growly protective men? Devoured this in practically one sitting and it will be going in the small pile of re-reads that I keep handy. Loved it!

This was a 5 star read for me up until the end. I really enjoyed Avery’s story and her development as she became more confident. Chloe was so cute with the guys and it was just an excellent dynamic overall. However, the ending was super rushed and I would have loved to see more of Avery and the guys’ relationship once they were more settled. We really only got like one spicy scene with each guy and I felt let down by that. Still a very good read.

I liked it but it was sooooo dramatic sometimes. Also I feel like there wasn't that much actual romance involved in the book, which is saying a lot considering it is a 400 pg book. tbh don't think ill read again but it was good(?) for the moment

great book

What a great book about a mom & daughter that we’re able to get out of an abusive relationship. She was able to find 3 wonderful guys that had issues also but they were able to work through it all.

I loved this book - it's a favorite of mine. I enjoyed the fact that all of the guys have their own backstory, their own trauma. Despite the heavy topics (DV) in Avery's past, this book still manages to be a comfort read for me.
