I’ve had this on my tbr since forever and at this point I don’t even know what were my expectations. But safe to say, a self-help/handbook for Christians probably wasn’t what I had in mind.
That being said, it was a fun read with some valuable observations that could be used even outside of religion… though that’s probably just my inner demon talking.

Great satire and the format of a series of letters was unusual and enjoyable.
The content and teachings that can be gleaned was excellent; next time I want to read, not listen, so I can get more from it.

A Clever Mirror of Faith and Human Nature
Reflections on Resilience and Temptation
C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters is a clever, impactful exploration of Christian principles and the human condition. Its unique epistolary format—letters from a demon, Screwtape, scheming to undermine a man’s faith—offers a fresh lens on morality and temptation. I loved how Lewis unpacks subtle human weaknesses, like the “gradual road to Hell” in the standout quote: “The safest road to Hell is the gradual one—the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts.” The prose is clear and engaging, and never clunky. While the story’s simplicity felt thin for a fiction read, viewing it as nonfiction—a meditation on faith and choice—made its insights resonate deeply. Its thought-provoking depth left me reflective and satisfied.

Great book. Regardless of it being religious (or at least appearing to), it takes you several times to a reflective state, thinking on many things regarding society and the human mind, soul and heart.
