Very different way of writing with no reference to location except where the hero starts from. It was an interesting story but quite different.

Slow start and then I started to love the writing and love the story.

Not the best story, but the main character is a realistic depiction of a twenty-two year old trying to figure things out. He's easy to relate to and his troubles, while bigger than anything I've had to deal with, feel authentic. So all in all, a good but not great book on being a young adult.

4.5 Powerful, moving, silently strong. The insight into acommon man's psyche, the small beauties and big tragedies of life. The style is so subtle, yet impactful.

Spoilers:

“Arnljótur, a horticulturist, finds himself at a crossroads in life after the death of his mother. He decides to leave his home and responsibilities behind, including his six-month-old daughter, to pursue his passion for gardening. He seeks solitude and a sense of purpose by taking a job in a remote monastery garden in a foreign country.
As Arnljótur arrives at the monastery, he encounters a diverse group of individuals who are also seeking solace and redemption in their own ways. Arnljótur's encounters with Anna and their daughter as well as the monastery's inhabitants, challenge his preconceptions and force him to confront his own emotional baggage.
Throughout the story, the symbolic presence of the rare flower Rosa Candida serves as a metaphor for love, beauty, and life itself. Arnljótur devotes himself to nurturing and preserving this flower, which becomes a catalyst for his personal growth and transformation.“
