Pretty flat and boring for a modern reader, but easy read for a classic, and important for history of sci-fi/Gothic.
Poor cat...
I think I would have dusted everything with flour.
Did you know that flour is highly combustible? :-D

I first came across the name of this book when watching the book thief and I have always wanted to read it since. Overall though, I found the book to be alright. I do enjoy H.G. Wells' plots so I will most likely be reading more of his books.

Understanding that this is a classic, I just didn't vibe with the story beats.
medium-paced
Classic wells - doesn’t just do a funky concept but makes it utterly human. The IM is flawed, morally blind, careless and brilliant. Great fun, great language, and if you ignore the dates societal norms just a good read.
An odd but enjoyable sci-fi classic. Some very “of it’s time” language (the n word, as well as describing someone as a “greasy Jew”) and some really weird choices, like the invisible man sneezing a lot, but overall an interesting and compelling tale of humanity and the corrupting power of a man doing something because he can, without considering whether he should.
