His & Hers

Alice Feeney

Hats off to this thriller for a brilliantly creepy setting and disturbing murder scenes! I was drawn in by the quick pace of the plot and the backstory that is slowly revealed through flashbacks. The alternating perspectives had me flying through the pages as there was never really a good stopping point.

Unfortunately I did find this to be a bit predictable. I knew who the killer was from a very early point in the book, and was waiting until the end to figure out how the logistics would work out when the killer was unmasked. The giant reveal was rather unbelievable and ridiculous, to be honest, but I can give the book a round of applause for keeping me on the edge of my seat all the same. There were certainly a few times when I second guessed myself and thought the culprit could be another character, if only for a moment.

Ultimately I’d rather have a predictable thriller that keeps me hooked on the story, in contrast to one that has me totally stumped but also too bored to care. I have to say I liked Rock Paper Scissors considerably more, but Alice Feeney is great at building tension in an unsettling environment. I am positive I’ll read more of her novels in the future.

Jack was so slow! He didn’t think the get doctor confirmation?!! Of anything?!! and just all the other mistakes he made. Just slow. This why you can’t leave men to their own devices, they will starve God bless the idiots 🤣

BRAVO Alice Feeney! What a WILD and CRAZY ride! Twisted and tense. Dark and desperate. Disturbing and delicious. And can I just say the audio ramped all thes things up... way UP! Richard Armitage and Stephanie Racine definitely elevated the creep factor with their spot on narration. The story is told from three perspectives his, hers, and that of the killers. On the audio the voice of the killer was downright spine chilling! Not even going to touch on the plot of this one, it is best gone into without knowing much of anything. Just know it’s an electric page turner with an unexpected ending.

there are three sides to every story. His side. Her side. And the TRUTH!

*** Big thank you to Flatiron, Macmillan Audio, and Libro FM for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***
