This book was surprisingly darker than I was expecting even halfway through. It wants to be a romcom but definitely isn’t. Something isn’t working here if you’re RELIEVED for the MMC when the two seemingly break up near the end. He was always better off without her.
That said, I can see the writing talent here. Wilder captures an interesting, behind-the-scenes look at acting and stardom that anyone who’s ever been in a fandom space will enjoy. The mental health portrayal here is interesting, as is her positive depiction of therapy. And there is genuine chemistry and some beautiful moments between this couple.
I hope this author can get more comfortable writing Romance, though, because this is a level of angst I don’t enjoy.

i just cannot take the back and forth for 80% of the book. they're downright mean and nasty to each other, and i'm not sure can even talk like adults. i did really like the writing, but the characters and the plot/story in itself makes this unreadable. dnf.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. The behind-the-scenes Hollywood stuff, the slow re-burn romance, the characters, the twists - Ava Wilder write the hell out of a book, and I'm here for every one!
