This book didn’t even give the pretense of anything else but erotica. And not that it has to, but the first was written pretty well so it set me up to be disappointed.

I’m not into voyerism so I was ready to meet the moth man right away. The plot was moving slow and focusing on the 🌶️ with dubious consent!

Everything Merrick says sounds like he’s a murderer 😂 and that  tongue is ridiculous! Even for being fantasy monster erotica, why is his tongue 40 feet long?

For someone that doesn’t want to date, Grace sure was acting datey. She puts on one tease show for a creature outside her window, he finds her place of employment and suddenly they’re spending time together under the guise of showing him around because he’s new in town. All that to say, the characters motivations were questionable.

She starts out wanting no strings attracted attention from her peeping Tom (I’m judging but whatever) then of course he’s charming so she likes him and wants to spend time. Nothing we haven’t seen before but I just didn’t feel like it was done well.

Maybe it was the lack of build in their romance. Idk, I also listened to this while doing literally everything else in my day so I probably missed some stuff too.

Also, for as much as Nascosta talked about the politics of the town, she sure didn’t do anything with it. I guess it was kinda important background for her getting that big account for the farm. (Was that the conflict? I can’t even remember now).

Things I could have gone my whole life without reading but laughed so loudly at:
  • C*ck pocket!
  • Lady garden.

Inner monologue in the last chapter:
  • Finally! A character with some good communication
    • Op nvm. All that big-gesture romance for no reason
Short and sweet. Morning Glory Milking Farms was def better though.

A sexually frustrated divorcee, Grace, starts a cozy yet steamy romance with the socially awkward mothman scientist, Merrick. Fully expecting for it to end within a few months once his program ends, Grace resigns herself to not fall in love, but the heart doesn’t always do what the brain thinks is best.

Thoughts:
-Very low-key romance with very little angst; a nice relaxing, chill read
- Smut is *chef’s kiss* excellent
- The world-building is wonderful; both fantastical and realistic
- Excellent chemistry between the characters, not just the main couple but the side characters as well
- Perfectly imperfect protagonists and realistic depictions of divorce and toxic relationships
- Super sweet ending without an unnecessary epilogue

I was surprised how much I liked book 1 but book 2 was a snooze.

A marketing and events manager for a countryside farm finds herself swept off her feet by a bumbling Mothman scientist in this monster romance set in C. M. Nascosta’s Cambric Creek. The spice here was not only super hot, but super fascinating! Worth reading just for that, but unfortunately I felt we didn’t learn enough about Merrick’s past and I was shocked that the ending didn’t include any pushback about Grace basically asking him to assimilate.

I like C.M. Nascosta's work a lot. What can I say? I like monsters. I thought it was cool that this book focuses on an unusual monster with a different anatomical situation going on than the usual. The premise for this book is absolutely bananas but I'm glad it stayed lighthearted and sweet.

I continue to enjoy the Cambric Creek series. Something about it is just so sweet and revs me up. Love a good monster romance and the voyeurism did NOT take awake from that. Spicy and a fun, fast-paced read.

CW graphic sexual content, emotionally abusive ex relationship, anxiety

🌟 Monster romance
🌟 Cinnamon roll hero
🌟 Mothman x Human

🌈 Anxiety rep

🌶 Exhibitionism/Voyeurism

Well if this wasn't the most adorable end to 2023 that I needed.

Our dear sweet heroine deserves to be protected at all costs. After fleeing an emotionally abusive relationship, she's bossing life and rebuilding herself, but keeps herself closed off to the idea of love (even though she's a massive horndog 🤣). Enter our cinnamon roll, socially anxious mothman. Yet another sweet previous bean who deserves the world.

The two of them made such a sweet couple with both their anxieties, just supporting and loving each other 😭

Also, in true CM Nascosta style, the spice remains spicing in every book they write 👀
