Who doesn't love #cryptids?
Sweet Berries is the second installment of #cmnascosta slice of monster life series #cambriccreek and it was as adorable, of not more so than #morningglorymilkingfarm.
The story begins with the main character Grace, a divorcée who works at a farm as an events coordinator, enjoying some down time with friends at a local bar. A few too many fruity drinks later and Grace finds herself feeling uninhibited in front of her forest facing bedroom balcony enjoying the attentions of a mysterious Peeping Tom.
When she discovers that her erotic voyeur is none other than a studiously anxious mothman who happens to be temporarily working at athe local university, Grace has to decide if love is worth a second chance before it flies out of her life again, maybe forever.
I love me some sweet and steamy #monsterromance and C.M. Nascosta certainly knows what buttons to push. Grace feels like a well developed character with fully realized wants, needs and insecurities. Merrick is unique, in many fun ways, and feels like a good complement to Grace.
There is never any true, heavy conflict as this does fall into the sweeter side of romance and is focused more on the guaranteed #happilyeverafter but it was refreshing to pick up after reading about murder and mystery.
I do wish Merrick had been featured a bit more heavily, the narrative focuses primarily on Grace and her struggle with recovering from a controlling and abusive relationship but overall it is a solid read for any #monstersmut fans.
