Somebody inject this book into my bloodstream. I friken loved it. Gonna go watch the show now. The characters were just so well written with complex thoughts and emotions and I felt for all of them. A super interesting format for a book too which worked amazingly. I wish there was more of it. Taylor Jenkins Reid hasn’t missed with any of the book I’ve read by her. In audiobook form it feel even more real with the distinct voices as if it’s really interviews. Just gorgeous.

I really enjoyed this book and read it in a few days. The characters were interesting and I liked how the format of the book was in the style of an interview transcript.

I was introduced to this story through the Amazon Prime series and enjoyed the audiobook cast and what they brought to the characters. The listening experience was fantastic and I found myself thinking about the characters and their decisions when I was away from the book. My one critique is that the song lyrics are cringe-inducing and distract from the emotional moments when the songs are being written and later performed. But overall, it was an engrossing read that I highly recommend others try!

Daisy jones & the six is an emotional read, once you can get beyond the setting that you’ve seen dozens of times. It does feel too real at times with the documentary style, where the author has essentially plucked out a real band and situation and re-written it with other names and dates. However, it’s a nice easy time.

It’s interesting hearing about all of these people with dreams and everything gets tangled with love and drugs and their relationships with themselves and how those aspects just make it impossible… How all of these people fall together and then have no choice but to walk away in spite of what they want and what they could have all together. It’s heartbreaking in some ways, but reassuring that you’re not the only one going through life as a victim of circumstance. It’s a human experience and we’re all humans (even rockstars).

Overall this was a really enjoyable and easy read. It is romantic but not raunchy. The characters are relatable and likable and I felt invested in the story. The group dynamics were funny and the relationships interesting. I really enjoyed the historical setting of rock and roll in the sixties. It was cool and fun, and the book almost felt like a study of that scene and era.
My only issues with this book are that the characters and tropes sometimes felt cliche, especially Daisy was emphasized as the ultimate cool girl in a way that made her not feel like a real person. Though that may be a purposeful demonstration of her celebrity image. It also lacked an intense climax, potentially as a result of the interview format.

I finished this on the tram this morning and cried.
After having watched the show, I was determined to read it finally. I understand why they made the changes they made to it and honestly, both version were exceptional in their own way but there’s a clear difference between book and show Billy and I’m not actually sure which one I prefer.
All in all, I took off 0.25 stars because I couldn’t stand Eddie’s whining the whole time.
Apart from that, I loved all the characters and loved the full cast reading of this.
