I did enjoy this book however it was a bit messy and got pretty repetitive during the middle which made the book a little boring but then towards the end it picked up a bit. i probably woudn’t read it again but i did enjoy it.

I don’t think this contains spoiler but just in case

I thought the writing style would throw me off but honestly,I loved it.

The characters had flaws, plenty and plenty and plenty of flaws. And they felt so so human.

It follows the story of a rock ‘n’ roll band in the 70s,what more can I ask for?

I love Daisy,fucking badass.

I never thought I would like a character named “Karen” but hell yeah.

I didn’t like Billy a lot tho.But I understand his reason to do what he done,at least, sometimes.Addiction is hard.

Some of my favorite quotes(than maybe convince you to read it?):

“I had absolutely no interest in being somebody else's muse.
I am not a muse.
I am the somebody.
End of fucking story.”

“Men often think they deserve a sticker for treating women like people.”

“I am not going to sit around sweating my ass off just so men can feel more comfortable. It’s not my responsibility to not turn them on. It’s their responsibility to not be an asshole.”

“I wore what I wanted when I wanted. I did what I wanted with who I wanted. And if somebody didn’t like it, screw ’em.”

“The chosen ones never know they are chosen. They think everyone gets a gold carpet rolled out for them.”

“I used to care when men called me difficult. I really did. Then I stopped. This way is better.”

“But music is never about music. If it was, we’d be writing songs about guitars. But we don’t. We write songs about women.
Women will crush you, you know? I suppose everybody hurts everybody, but women always seem to get back up, you ever notice that? Women are always still standing.”

“When you think of me, I hope it ruins rock ’n’ roll.”

“I’ll tell you: If a friend lied to me the way I lie to myself, I’d say, “You’re a shitty friend.” Mood

“Denial is like an old blanket. I loved to get on under that thing and curl up and sleep.” Same

“And she said, “A part of me wishes you wanted kids, because my kids make me so happy. But ... I think in order to be happy like I’m happy, you need different things. And I want you to have whatever those things are.” And I started crying, then. Because somebody understood.”

“I think you have to have faith in people before they earn it. Otherwise it’s not faith, right?”

“It was a man’s world. The whole world was a man’s world but the recording industry ... it wasn’t easy. You had to get some guy’s approval to do just about anything and it seemed like there were two ways to go about it. You either acted like one of the boys, which is the way I had found. Or you acted real girlie and flirty and batted your eyelashes. They liked that.
But Daisy, from the beginning, was sort of outside of all that. She was just sort of “Take me or leave me.”

“It’s like some of us are chasing after our nightmares the way other people chase dreams.”

“She had written something that felt like I could have written it, except I knew I couldn’t have. I wouldn’t have come up with something like that. Which is what we all want from art, isn’t it? When someone pins down something that feels like it lives inside us? Takes a piece of your heart out and shows it to you? It’s like they are introducing you to a part of yourself.”

“Here’s a lesson for everybody, take it from me: Handsome men that tell you what you want to hear are almost always liars.”
