Lisa Jewell had one of my
best reads of 2023. This one just felt a little bit too all over the place. The timeline jumps were too jumpy and it often confused the plot for me. One of the big reveals I feel happened so unsurprisingly that it was weird. This thriller is still
a fast read because you spend the whole time trying to figure out WTF is going on. The storyline was good once you figured it out.

Since this sequel serves a purpose of tying up loose ends & filling in the blanks, it wasn’t as thrilling or nail-biting as “The Family Upstairs”. BUT that being said, I still enjoyed it for what it was and I was happy to delve back into the lives of the Lambs. I appreciated the additional storylines and characters that tacked onto the original story, and although the loose ends were tied up just a liiiiiittle too neatly for my liking, I would still recommend this to anyone that has read the first (and if you haven’t read the first, you absolutely should).

I didn't realize that this was the sequel to The Family Upstairs when I started, and I probably would have waited a bit to be a better headspace because of all of the assault. But I still really enjoyed it, and I like the author's storytelling a lot.
