3.4

I also really enjoyed this book! Great sequel to “The family upstairs”! Would definitely recommend! Again full of twists and turns and even finding out things that you may have missed in the first book! I enjoyed meeting new characters like rachel and learning more about her back story!

I just did not want to carry on reading. I didn't love the first book, but after reading a lot of other books by Lisa Jewell since then, I figured I'd give this a try. I wish I hadn't bothered. The story isn't really a mystery in the general sense. The story seems to be about one character from the first book searching for another character from the first book. With a side plot going into the second marriage of Michael Rimmer (former husband of Lucy from the first book). None of it interested me, and the more I read, the more uncomfortable I felt. The stalking plot line was very creepy, which I guess was the point, but the story of the second marriage, which is just about turning into an abusive one where I left off, put me off continuing.

The characters aren't any more interesting in this one than they were in the first. I may try this again some day. Maybe. But for now it's a no from me. Sorry.

This book offers no interesting new information and it is not even really a thriller. There's no provocative mystery. The characters from the first book are still around but being maximum cringe, stupid and they all meed therapy badly. We're following the timeline of a terrible guy who died in the first book for WHAT? And who cares about some terrible woman's bones!? I did like the detective but even he felt pointless because nobody cares about those bones. An unnecessary book.

A fantastic follow up to "There's Family Upstairs". Just as gripping, and I loved the introduction of Rachel and following her story. Lisa Jewell is an amazing writer!
