"You didn't ask."
And it's a no, he was about to add, but Grimm shut him up with a deep, curiously intense kiss. It wasn't even probing so much as familiar, like they'd been lovers before, even for years, and the old spark had never withered. He tasted of electricity and copper wires and all too human. Kyle groaned with pleasure when Grimm ran his fingers through his hair. He felt more alive than he had in weeks—his scalp tingling under a touch too sensual to have come from a stranger.

In a nutshell: Boy meets Boy in a spaceship... and enjoy each other dicks while hunting a dangerous alien.

MCs: Kyle Juenger: a former soldier wounded in combat. And Grimm: the captain of very a suspicious spaceship.

Plot: Kyle spent his entire life being a warrior, but he retires when he's seriously injured on a mission. Despite surviving, he'll never be able to walk normally. To his surprise, he's contacted by an organization to go hunting a very dangerous alien. This alien is hidden in a spaceship full of mercenaries and Kyle infiltrates with a secret identity. And while on the alien's hunt he ends up meeting the captain of the ship: Grimm. Kyle can't help feeling very attracted to Grimm, and Grimm (charming as a prince) wants to prove to Kyle that he's beautiful no matter what (insert "aaaaaawwww" here).

Review: Although the book has less than 100 pages, the plot develops very well and in a very entertaining way. I'm fascinated by the world building... I need to know more about EVERYTHING! Kyle and Grimm have very good chemistry (aka sexual tension, heeelloooo. So hot) and I need to know more about them. The ending is amazing and it left me very happy. And It has a dark sense of humor, something that I love in books.

4.5 stars. This book has excellent world-building, interesting characters with a lot of issues and imperfections, and a well-designed plot. The only reason it wasn't five stars for me was that it felt a bit short. I guess like so many of this excellent writer's stories, I wasn't ready to let these guys go, which is more compliment than flaw.

**Review for Rarely Dusty Books**

Okay. So. There we have it. The review for Incursion (if you can call it as much). After mucho cursing, hair pulling and even breaking my own rule: looking at other reviews, because I did not quite know what to do with this book, I sat down to write this. I think I’ve stopped reading this book and started up again at least 5 times upon receiving it.

Incursion falls in the category of George Martin, Marion Zimmer Bradley and Tolstoy. The books are pretty to look at, but just not for me and not because of the content but for inexplicable reason the book just doesn’t work for me. I felt no connection to the story or characters.

Objectively I can see that Incursion is a good story. It’s got a good plot: lots of action, interesting worlds, and enemies to friends/lovers theme. It’s also got likable less than perfect characters. All that with good writing and world-building. Maybe the ending wasn’t all that, but then again, it also wasn’t a convenient one either.

So why didn’t Incursion work for me? Short answer? I don’t really know. It just wasn’t a book for me. Maybe if I try it again in a year it will be different. For this reason I’m going to leave the book unrated.
This doesn’t mean the book is bad. As I said, I peeked at other reviews and many of them give Incursion a 4 to 5 star rating. So that sure counts for something and means this review gets the: “It’s me, not you” spiel. ~

"Take your darkness to the warrior for they can slay it."

Well, first of all who doesn't love a bounty hunter falling for / seduced by his own prey -- hotness. LOL. But on top of that, I really enjoyed the twist and the ending was brilliant. A great quick quick read that I loved to bits and GOD, finally a sci-fi M/M I was able to get into.

"I'll decide whether you're fun or not..."

"Some kind of warrior you are..."

"You're evading the question."

"What fucking question?"

"Can I kiss you?"

"You didn't ask."

A short story centered on a soldier looking for a way back to get legs. Fueled by resentment and vengeance and the basic need to survive after a career ending wound, Kyle takes what is obviously a no-win assignment to hunt down a ‘morph’. A member of the species Kyle blames for the loss of function in his legs.
I enjoyed the ‘who is Grimm’ aspect of the story and was delighted to see Winter was an awesome female character (hooray!). Overall nothing outstanding here but it was a good sci-fi short story.

Would be 4, except the unfortunate cure narrative choice at the end.

Really cool story idea and set in the same universe as Dark Edge of Honor. I would definitely read more!
