This book is a nice introduction into Swedish values around lagom. I enjoyed the first section about lagom in personal life, then got bored in the latter two sections. It would have been nice to have more Swedish-specific information rather than turning into a sustainability and self-help book (both of which are good but not what I expected).

This was nice to read. As a minimalist for 15 years, it is interesting how my practices go a lot in line with Lagom. This is a good reminder and I enjoyed learning about the methods of some of the Swede way of life.

-Swedish culture
-balanced living
-one sitting read

mini synopsis:
Sweden is ranked in the top three of the world’s happiest places to live, and lagom, which means “not too much and not too little—just right,” is the Swedish philosophy for enjoying balance in every aspect of life—from work and leisure to family and food, and everything in between.

thoughts:
I’m enjoying my continuation on cozy and balanced living books from other cultures! It’s just so much fun to read lifestyle books like this in the beginning of the year. The Swedes definitely know balance and I learned quite a bit on their social norms, how they keep their homes minimal, lack of consumerism, parenting techniques that involve a lot of outdoor time for kids, and so many other topics. Bits and pieces to glean for the every day busy American life that I am desperately trying to slow. Feelings of contentment abound in this read. Also, I think I’d enjoy their food with how much fish 🐟 and potatoes🥔 they seem to enjoy 😂

This is a good book to read if you're interested in a basic overview of the Swedish way of living life, being environmentally conscious, and/or minimalism. I skipped the chapter on raising kids but I found the rest to be fairly interesting, although at odd with living in America. As a commuter who drives 35 minutes to work over a bridge, highway, and freeway, simply riding my bike to work is not a possibility.

Meh. It was a quick read and almost too practical, like a lot of blog posts condensed into one. Maybe I’m just too familiar with similar concepts, but this wasn’t what I was hoping it would be!
