great book, i found myself angry at times and had to put it away for a while. glad i read it.

Long, messy, sprawling, but also touching, moving, and just plain wonderful. Lamb tries perhaps too hard, especially toward the end, but I can forgive him that. Great read.

I just finished this book and it is still spinning in my head. In all honesty, the story is a wee bit predictable, especially to someone who has read I Know This Much Is True as frequently as I have. However, it will still go up on the list of best books I have ever read. The characters are so rich and vivid I dreamed about them every night that I was reading this book.
I am so glad that I have read this book. I am so glad that Wally Lamb finally wrote another book. I highly recommend it.

Depressing, but really good. Too dark to read right after Edgar Sawtelle.

It was a good read, but I didn’t love it. I didn’t find it as memorable as She’s Come Undone. It almost felt like two books - the Columbine events and the family’s spiral and then the family history and Quirk stuff. The connections almost felt forced to me. But there was a lot I liked about it too.

Any book by Wally Lamb is a great book.

I thought this book reminded me of a restaurant menu that has ‘a little bit of everything’ but none of it very great. There wasn’t much in character development and felt disconnected overall.

Loved the way Wally Lamb wove all kinds of historical characters and events into a major narrative about loss, family, mistakes and redemption. Five stars may be generous, but reading the book made me feel generous. And that's always good.

It was long...too long....and it was boring in places...too boring.

I love Wally Lamb - what can I say? He's brilliant and this book is no exception. Lengthy - but worth it.
