The depth of Ms. Lorde’s wisdom and the scope of her intelligence are astonishing. Her book leaves its mark deep in my mind, heart, and soul.

To say the very least: thought-provoking inspiring sad hopeful enraging humbling essential bold true. One of the most vital collections I’ve ever read, to my deeper understanding of all the work there is to do in order to be truly free

I am very sorry to say this is my first experience reading the works of Audre Lorde and I am now feeling inadequate as a feminist. Lorde was definitely a groundbreaker and much ahead of her time and ours, even now, nearly 40 years after she wrote this. I learned so much listening to this audio version. Her ideas on relating to and connecting with other people are invaluable for everyday life and particularly when working through differences of all kinds. I especially appreciated her insights on how to connect using individuality and holding mutual respect for that individuality. I felt like most of the topics she chose to share in this volume have to do with big social issues, the measures and strategies she brings forth can be used in nearly any type of relationship as well as handling modern issues and political differences. Her advice and presentations seem timeless. I feel like everyone of us need to read, understand, and employ her practices. She was a great model and example. I hope to absorb and put her ideas into practice in whatever ways I can even though I don’t think I could possibly measure up!
