Entertaining, but absolutely implausible. Don’t care—fun read!

I think what I appreciate most about Finlay Donovan is how relatable she is. Of course, not in the murder-for-hire sense. She has something she needs to do, she SHOULD do, and that’s write her book. Instead, in both the first book and this one, Finlay allows herself to become distracted and preoccupied by…well, everything else. I feel that in my core.

I can’t get enough of Vero and the side eye she is constantly giving to everyone she encounters.

This book is hilarious and surprising and just so much fun! I can’t wait until it’s official pub release so I can reread the physical copy!

I’m not ready to be done with Finlay! I’ll need a book three, thanks!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC!

It was okay… not as good as the first one though. I don’t think I’ll finish the series. Or maybe I’ll just take a break…

• Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books and NetGalley for providing this Advance Reading Copy. Expected publication date is February 1, 2022.

This second book in the Finlay Donovan series has cemented Finlay and her sidekick, Vero, firmly in my heart. I honestly don’t think that I can get enough of their murderous hijinks. Finlay finds out from a woman’s online forum that someone wants her ex-husband, Steven, dead and is willing to pay top dollar for the “hit”. Finlay has her hands full taking care of her two small children, writing her second novel, all while trying to find out who wants Stephen out of commission. Meanwhile, the hot and sexy Detective Nick Anthony is desperately trying to get back into Finlay‘s life. Hilarity abounds and I can’t wait for the third installment.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

From the Publisher:
Finlay Donovan is—once again—struggling to finish her next novel and keep her head above water as a single mother of two. On the bright side, she has her live-in nanny and confidant Vero to rely on, and the only dead body she's dealt with lately is that of her daughter's pet goldfish.

On the not-so-bright side, someone out there wants her ex-husband, Steven, out of the picture. Permanently. Whatever else Steven may be, he's a good father, but saving him will send her down a rabbit hole of hit-women disguised as soccer moms, and a little bit more involvement with the Russian mob than she'd like.

Meanwhile, Vero's keeping secrets, and Detective Nick Anthony seems determined to get back into her life. He may be a hot cop, but Finlay's first priority is preventing her family from sleeping with the fishes... and if that means bending a few laws then so be it.

With her next book's deadline looming and an ex-husband to keep alive, Finlay is quickly coming to the end of her rope. She can only hope there isn't a noose at the end of it...

I loved the first in this series but this felt forced and unbelievable.
