I like a little more nuance in my books when it comes to themes of revenge. Dismissing all acts of revenge as despicable and unjustifiable is soooooo tired. This book doesn’t do that, exactly, but it also doesn’t not do it.

I also like nuance in my villains. The villain’s actions and even phrases turn downright ridiculous at the end.

An entertaining little read that validated my hatred of "team building" activities and escape rooms. If you enjoyed the movie Saw but didn't really care for the moralistic side this one might work for you, Escape! Is a revenge fantasy type of deal.

light 3.5 stars. would be a 3 stars because it was a little bit predictable and I kind of hated all of the characters except one lol but i guess that's the point? BUT the audiobook narrator did a really great job (I actually really liked the British-isms in the book), the pacing was fast, it was a quick read, and i somewhat liked the set up of a potential continuation which bumped it up half a star.

just in case there are definitely some TW's though: conversation of SA, attempted SA

Iain Rob Wright does it again. Twists that you will not see coming.

A lot like the Saw films however I say that in a complimentary way as I loved Saw and Saw 2 (I won’t speak of the rest).

Some different ideas thrown in along with the Saw-like traps although similar in that people had to atone for their sins and the group were having to search for the link between them throughout. Also one of the characters who was presumed dead turned out not to be and was involved in the whole thing.

It’s the first book I have read by this author but I enjoyed it enough to seek out others and managed to read it over a couple of days.

Iain Rob Wright delivers another gory, horror novel about a group of colleagues who are about to find out that escape rooms are a little more deadly than they had hoped. I expected a little more gore and graphic based on the reviews I'd read but overall found this one less graphic than some of his other novels. I enjoyed trying to guess the motives and person behind the game. While I figured out some of it, there were parts which shocked me. It was an easy to read, fast paced story which would be perfect for fans of the horror Escape Room movies. If you liked this one, I'd recommend "The Housemates" also by Iain Rob Wright which is similar.

A great read, went into it with some expectations but it quickly blew those out of the water. One of the few books I've read lately that I didn't want to put down.  Would definitely recommend, does have massive trigger warnings tho, so reader beware.
