Emerging from this narrative is like emerging from the OASIS: disorienting and not overly desirable. (Although not medically reported as such) this is an addictive adventure full of plot eggs for even the vaguest sci fi fans.

The last chapter was cheesy but overall such a good book. Loved all the 80s references.

This was going to be a four star, but I had to give it five because of the way I felt at the end. Is it a perfect read? No, it's unabashedly cheesy and if you don't lean into that you won't enjoy it. It's structured like all the classic media it references, with deus ex machinas and getting the girl moments, but that's sort of the point. I loved it. Most importantly, it really captured the joy of being a professional appreciator.

So this book is certainly intended for reader far geekier than myself, and I still loved it. A lot of the references were above my head, which was not helped by the fact that I did not enter the world until the early 90's. Still, the plot was engaging and the futuristic world nearly hit a bit too close to home in terms of realism. It is not hard to imagine that this could be our worlds next steps.

The egg hunt was divine. When it was first brought up, I was excited for our protagonist. I knew at that moment that I would never have stood a chance in his shoes, but I was excited none the less. The entire novel was wonderful, even to a semi-nerd like myself.
