I love, love, love this book and story. I've started to collect various versions of the book. I was in England during most of the Christmas season and loved reading it by the lights of my Christmas tree. A beautiful story of change and redemption.

My favourite character: Ebenezer Scrooge
3 things I loved about the book:
Structure
Characters
Pace
3 Words I would use to describe this book:
Hopeful
Joyous
Really quite scary
Quotes:
'Marley was dead: to begin with'
'There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter'

Amazing, wonderful, fantastic. I'll start with the plot, it's basically an old man's redemption arc set in Christmas season and it's great because I have a thing for sad old people. I live in a place where Christmas isn't celebrated so it's pleasant to read about in detail how it's celebrated although it's set in the 1800s or something like that. As for the writing, it's phenomenal. The descriptions are very vivid and the word choice is so precise(as expected from a classic book). I love the way Dickens' sentences are structured, the length is quite long but it's necessary to include all the details that make the book feel alive. It did make me google a word every paragraph or so but it's challenging so I like it, though it did interrupt the flow. I would give this a 5 star but since the words were quite difficult for my reading level, it failed to make me sit and finish it in one sitting. But maybe, once I grow older and I become more knowledgeable, I'll reread it again and I'll be able to enjoy it to the fullest.

I know you have lied and said you read this book. You should now make up for your sinful ways. Go. Read. The story is more complex than the Disney version, has better dialogue than the one with Jim Carry, and stick me more as adult with children then as a child. Go, and atone for your wrongdoing.

Absolutely loved it. We all know it, but I had never read it. I think this is my favourite format, preferable over the movie and the play. The writing was naturally amazing. And I found Scrooge to be a lot more likeable and open to change than portrayed in the other formats.
