oh my wow!! this was an incredible book!! i knew Mariana Enriquez was a good author but fuck, this was brilliant. The size of the book intimidated me at first but like as soon as I started reading, I was sucked in and I just wanted to keep reading!
Gasper is such an amazing character and I really enjoyed seeing the realistic ways that trauma at a young ages can effect different people shown with Gasper, Vicky and Pablo!
I would 100% recommend this book!!

Un subtexto idéntico y una trama similar a la de Hereditary de Ari Aster (no sé cuál fue primero, pero tampoco me importa demasiado). La ambientación es increíble, pero le sobra medio libro.

The description of this book definitely did not prepare me for the reality of it! It’s a long one, but written beautifully and the story has historical elements as well as horror, magical realism, and an almost memoir like quality sometimes.
It’s creative and all of the characters are multi-dimensional and interesting. I love the way that it throws you into the middle of the story at the beginning, and then a whole mystery kind of unravels as you read.
The only reason it got 4 is because I thought the last one quarter felt super rushed for a story that spent SO long building up to it, but I feel that way about most books so maybe that’s a me thing.

¿ Y ahora que hago con mi vida después de haber terminado esta joya?
Esta historia me tuvo cautiva casi un mes, lo leí de poquito a poquito porque quería entender el mundo que construyó Mariana, las conexiones a sus cuentos, las diversas capas de esta historia y goce cada minuto.
Ame los saltos en el tiempo, los diferentes puntos de vista desde donde se cuenta la historia, las dudas que me causaba y como me sentí al leerlo.Sentí curiosidad, emoción, tristeza, enojo (maldita Mercedes), rabia y en otras partes me pregunté si ya estoy demasiado perturbada por el mundo actual que partes realmente perturbadoras no me dieron miedo porque es un terro que vivimos en latinoamerica, por ejemplo que puede hacer la gente con mucho dinero, la dictadura, las desapariciones, las manifestaciones.
Por otro lado la historia de Juan y Gaspar, la ternura que hay pero también los secretos, los miedos, el trauma, intentar entender las acciones de Juan cuando deja de ser parte central de la historia y dejamos ver su punto de vista, me hizo estar aún más cautiva en la historia.
La historia de la familia, la orden y ese final que cierra todo de manera espectacular y al mismo tiempo dejándote dudas ( muy estilo de Mariana)

El final una vez más es tan abierto tan que será ahora de Gaspar, tan ya no hay orden, ya hay vida y como se vive ahora.
