What a delightful book!

Mert the Anxious Evergreen was a beautiful story about unity, love, compassion, the circle of life, and friendship. I enjoyed the characters and their stories. There was an underlying theme weaved into the pages of this book that dealt with hope. Even when the conflict came in the ninth hour, hope gave way to a miracle.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. The words I have expressed are my own.

Mert, The Anxious Evergreen by Claire Bowman
Illustrated colorful children's book about how an evergreen tree starts out. The seed, Mert was saved by the mower and now year after year he's getting bigger. He is able to talk to other things along the way that come into his life.
He is finally big enough to be a real Christmas tree for somebody and he is excited about being decorated.
There are many others involved and politics take over in the form of developers that want to destroy the land to make way for buildings...
Love how they all band together to fight...like how the story evolves and what they all have to go through to save what they believe in.
I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review.

This story is like a Hallmark Channel movie for kids. Characters include Mert (the tree from the title), Ol' Joe and his grandson Cole (owners of the farm where Mert lives), Sally (Cole's girlfriend from town), and a cat name John Begonsen. Mert longs to be a Christmas tree and discover Christmas spirit, but he also wants keep the farm and Hickory Flats safe from developers who would level everything for new construction. When Ol' Joe is injured and cannot help Cole tend the farm, Mert has plenty to be anxious about.

This is a sweet story to read together as a family and think of all the things you are thankful for at this time of year. If you are a fan of those movies on the Hallmark Channel - you will like this book.

I read an e-book provided by the publisher through NetGalley.
