I was in a bit of a reading slump and wanted something quick and engaging. This fit the bill! A modern retelling of Jane Eyre with a much more satisfying conclusion. I've had a harder time lately with thrillers that are too gritty, and this was a fun soapy mystery about people with many hidden lives. Perfect for a weekend read.

I enjoyed listening to it but BE WARNED the author gave the characters cutesy Jane Eyre names and that took me out of it. We get it, the title is the wife upstairs. Every time I hear ‘Mr. Rochester’ I’m gonna roll my eyes.

Chick lit thriller at it's finest. Easy but entertaining "beach" read.

This was a fun, diverting read, but it didn't have the grit I expected from an adaptation of Jane Eyre.

Thoroughly underwhelming re-writing of Jane Eyre. I didn’t get a “gothic vibe” from the book at all and none of the characters were in the least bit likeable or ones you’d want to root for (especially Jane). Also a lot of the language and descriptions were so repetitive I felt like I was stuck in a loop re-reading a chapter I had just finished. Definitely needed better writing and editing.

Great, easy read.
