An enjoyable mystery. I did guess the main twist before it occurred but that’s ok. The ending is left ‘open ended’ am not sure how I feel about that. I think it leaves too many unanswered questions, but it doesn’t warrant another follow up book. The book kept me interested and involved all the way through.
dark mysterious medium-paced

Didn’t love the main character. The story line had potential but I think it just went a weird way and I didn’t really enjoy it.

I do not like to hate on books, but this was the worst I have read in a while. The characters have no depth. The romantic relationship between Eddie and Jane makes no sense. The plot is just kind of silly (and not in a fun way). I liked Jane Eyre, and this just feels like a sad knockoff.
lighthearted relaxing fast-paced

It was entertaining but not thrilling enough!

I wouldn’t say this was the most thrilling or suspenseful book I have ever read, but it was entertaining nonetheless. There were a few twists that I didn’t see coming. I also enjoyed all the characters’ different personalities, not sure that they all added to the story line nowhere.

TW: DV, child neglect, alcoholism, murder, fire, confinement

Very engaging, not usually a fan of switch perspectives but this one was captivating and easy to follow while still progressing the story well. Good level of suspense, and really great pacing.
