For a short shifter story, this really packed a punch! It's go from beginning to end.
Bez is a Dire wolf, extremely rare and deadly. He and his dire wolf pack help the president on missions. I say help and not work for because it was made clear that no one controls these dire wolfs. Hot!
This mission is to retrieve a kidnapped 15 yr old Omega wolf, also rare. Bez gets a surprise when he finds her. There are two Omegas being held hostage and it's him against 5 shifters. Protocal says keep to the plan and save the 15 year old and come back for the second Omega. There's only one problem, the second Omega is his mate. Can he really leave her to an unknown fate until he can come back for her?
The author did such a good job of making this short story seem like a full length book. There was so much going on and not a dull moment. I loved Bez! I liked that he was considered one of the most dangerous shifters and he was so militant in his actions that when he meets his mate, it just made it so much sweeter. I wish there was more in the book of them but it looks like this is a series and I'm hoping I'll get to read about them in the books to follow.

Great start to the series.
This was a fantastic first book in the series. It follows Bez, a Dire Wolf, as he hunts for and rescues a kidnapped Omega. But he does not just find the Omega he went to locate, he finds another kidnapped Omega as well, Sariel, who is his mate. There is fighting, danger, aggression, fear, and mystery mixed in with sexy fated mates. This novella was well written and engaging. The ratcheting up of the suspense as the story unfolded was done really well. I am looking forward to seeing how the stories for the Dire Wolves play out.

I found this book highly enjoyable. While the story was short there was still development which I appreciate. I feel like we get a nice sneak peak into the personalities of the characters and can't wait to learn more. You get just enough that you can see distinct personalities and they don't all blend together.

Three and a half stars.
This is the first book I have read by Ellis Leigh, I found the first chapters a little confusing as they references what looks to be two previous series, but after that I found that the book could be read as a stand-alone and the information dump was kind of irrelevant.
Someone is kidnapping Omega wolves. Omegas are apparently related to the almost extinct Dire Wolf shifters and are exclusively female. When a 15 year old Omega is kidnapped and her entire pack murdered by this group the President calls Beelzebub (Bez for short) to his residence and instructs him to retrieve the missing Omega and bring one of the kidnappers in for questioning.
Bez is the leader of the seven strong Dire Wolf pack, the most feared shifters and the greatest fighters, Bez is legendary as never having lost a fight. The Dire Wolves have been a pack for centuries, none has ever found a mate and they have accepted their fate.
In a houseboat deep in the Louisiana swamps Sariel has been kept a prisoner for a month. An Omega from a small pack which practices isolationism she is infertile a'dud' and so of little use to her kidnappers, they threaten to use her as werewolf bait. In this paranormal world werewolves are rabid animals which drink the blood of female wolves. When Angelica, a young Omega is brought into her cell she does her best to look after the young woman.
What did I like about this book? First Bez and Sariel were grown ups. They took responsibility and stepped up. Although the inevitable mate bond frenzy appeared Bez tried to fight it, he knew he had to protect the two women and his rational brain was trying to do that. TBH it was the most believable scenario I have ever seen which deals with the instalove/ mating need. He KNEW it was neither the time nor the place and yet he was powerless to stop it. Sariel strayed into TSTL territory and yet I felt I couldn't blame her, she had the best of intentions.
Overall, this was a promising start to a new series. I like the unusual world-building and the Dire Wolf pack being the biggest and the baddest. The kidnapping arc isn't resolved so I look forward to an arc over several books as a supervillain and his dastardly plan are gradually revealed.
I received a free copy of this novel from the publishers via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
