Confusing to follow at times but worth the read. This book comes off as very passionate and reads like a whirlwind collage of the suffering of women, mainly their lack of autonomy in "polite society". While this book seems a bit dated, parts still very effectively highlighted issues still faced by afab people today.

The perfect summation is quote referenced near the end:
The boys throw stones at the frog in jest. The frog dies in earnest.

This book was a mix for me. Some parts I really enjoyed. But at the same time I was very confused a lot of the time but it was still enjoyable enough to continue. But nearing the end I was really struggling to continue because things got weirder and more confusing and less enjoyable but since I was so close to finishing I got through it and it got easier again at the very end.

Not for me.

I don’t care what anybody says, the stuff in the book are still and will continue to be relevant in the world and I’m just glad someone was able to explain the problems back to readers back then and today

Told in a whirling jumping back and forth way between the different J lettered female characters of the book and different universes but not different sets of time; the book has a storyline but it’s there to symbolize the idea of feminism of the late 1970s. The story has small fictional interviews, and some instances where the writer goes outside the book and imagines how men would respond to the writing .Also scenes of a bizarre (and I say bizarre because it doesn’t exist sadly ) descriptions of a planet in which women thrive and femininity isn’t viewed as subjective but divine and everyone there works with the calmness of acceptance.
