I thoroughly enjoyed this. While romance is usually my genre of choice, I am glad I read this one. The twists and turns kept me entertained and I found myself wanting to race through chores so I could get back to it. It's sad that I could see the events from this story happening here. Power hungry politicians who think they are above the law in the name of "patriotism" number too many to count. Excellent story Ms. Abrams.

This book comes off as very conflated and confusing. You get the gist of what’s happening but we are definitely going around the side of the barn a couple of times to get there.
The protagonist is believable but makes questionable choices and some of the other characters were so paper thin I had to go back in the book to figure out who they were and why they were in the present scene.
And yet…it’s highly readable and will only take a day or so to finish being so compelling with a mystery that unfolds well paced and with a nice

I hear the book is being fitted for a tv series so that should tell you something about the quality (good) and strength (excellent) of the writing.

The story was engaging, and the premise is very interesting. However, the writing seemed stilted. The language didn’t flow easily. She used some obscure words that threw me off kilter (or my vocabulary sucks).

I would definitely read more of Stacey Abrams’ thrillers.
