I started this about two years ago, and DNFed it very early on. This time around I managed to finish it, but for me it was just ok. A quick, fun-at-times thriller, but the further in I read, the slower it felt.

I liked the central story, and the mystery of how two cousins wound up dead on an island with which they seemed to have no connection. The investigation started off interesting, but really lagged in the middle. And I just wasn't bothered by the conclusion.

I also liked Nora and Thomas as central characters, with decent back stories outside of the plot to connect to. But Nora's went frustratingly nowhere (possibly leading to the sequels, but there wasn't enough resolution for me). Thomas's tragic history was compelling, but couldn't take him much further.

The setting of Sandhamm was gorgeous and well described, but at the same time the focus on some of the specifics (sailing, what people ate, etc) got a little boring. Bit of a shame but I'm glad I read it.
