I read this book shortly after reading an “An Hour Before Daylight “ by the former president, which details his childhood . Some of that is repeated in this book. Carter has lived an extraordinary life. His service in the Navy was exemplary. He attempted to be an honest businessman and politician. Of all the former presidents in my lifetime, he has lived the best life of service to the world. His work with Habitat for Humanity by itself is worthy of admiration. His efforts at Middle East peace were earnest, but as I write this, Israel is sending ground troops into Lebanon. I finished this book the day before Carter will turn 100. Thank you President Carter for your incredible service and example of a life well lived.
I've always admired The former president, and when I saw the audiobook available through my local library I decided to give it a listen. I admire Mr. Carter even more since listening to the book, such a humble and godly man. Adding to the experience was that the book was read by the author himself. Overall an interesting and enjoyable read.

Jimmy Carter is not exactly the most impartial narrator of his own career, but this memoir manages to stay fairly apolitical while still recounting his term as our 39th president. Carter also devotes a good portion of this book to his occupations both before and after the White House, and it all adds up to a fascinating picture of his life. In every era and every role of that life, his decency, his deep Christian faith, and his commitment to racial equality shine like a beacon off these pages. He may not have been able to convince the nation of it in 1980, but Americans can be proud of the legacy he's created.
This book was a balm for my soul - President Carter is a rare gem. His wisdom, intelligence, care for others is sorely lacking in today's politics.

I love Jimmy Carter. This great man has accomplished so much. I admire his integrity and work ethic to no end! I listened to the audio and really enjoyed his voice throughout the book. He is accepting of his faults, apologetic for his mistakes, tireless in his goodwill, endlessly kind, and constantly learning.
