The Evil Queen by Gena Showalter

Just a writing style that is not working for me. Sentences are short and choppy and repetitive, and there are far too many clichés. Also, trying too hard with the modern twist on fairy tale language. Had to stop after "Queen of Hearts, yo." And "I'll quill you in." I'm finding myself more annoyed than entertained. Guess this version of YA just doesn't work for me.

The book was a little more spicy than I thought it would be (still very mild compared to some of the stuff out there). There were a few paradoxes in the writing, but I genuinely loved this book! It was a very refreshing twist to an age old story!

This book was phenomenal! I was hooked from page one and pulled an all nighter because I just couldn’t put it down! Showalter writes phenomenally already, and the concept behind this retelling is absolutely mind blowing. I cannot stress how much I hope people will pick up this book!

Talk about a twist!

I love retellings, they are always so much more exciting then the original fairy tales. Gena really took this one into a whole another dimension sort of speak and wonderfully crafted a fairytale not made for the faint of hearts. Love, loved it!

for me the writing was meh, which is surprising because there's a novel of Gena Showalter's that I used to absolutely love
