The romance here was so sweet! It was a pretty slow book, but when I like the characters and setting enough I don't mind that at all, and I found the main characters here really endearing. I loved the alternate version of magical Britain and how it really plays up local languages and culture. Will look out for the sequel for sure!

I didn't realize it was a romance when I picked it up, but I figured it out pretty quickly and there was plenty of the Magical Scholars content I was looking for. And the romance itself is very cute, so I didn't mind at all.

None of the story is plausible in the least (and it even pulled the "but that only happens in STORIES" line, which make me roll my eyes very hard) but it was a fun read. I enjoyed it a lot!

I'm generally very much tired of the "our hero(ine) is secretly or discovers (s)he is a prince(ss)" trope, but to my surprise, I actually enjoyed the way the author worked it here. Maybe it's because it's done as a mystery/thriller sort of plot instead of a Grand Destiny? I do love mysteries, intrigue, and being fugitives for crimes they didn't commit.
