It dragged for me a bit at the end but over all a good book

This was my first book by this author. Overall, it was an interesting story with characters who are fundamentally *good* people, which I always appreciate. It felt like the first half of the book was more captivating than the second half, which seemed to get bogged down in places. Still, it was worth a read & I’m going to read the next book in the series.

I started reading this series based on Amy’s ratings for it. I’m not disappointed. They’re slightly anachronistic but ultimately really sweet and satisfying stories. (Listening to audiobooks by Rosalyn Landor, still grinding my teeth, but anyway.)

I enjoyed the marriage of convenience aspect of this and I really loved Eve and her commitment to those children.

are you fan of forced/arranged marriage trope, good slowburn and strong independent woman character? this book is for you, then.

i absolutely adored eve. i admired her for dealing with all new 'aristocrat life' with her own way. and then ther is aidan who might didn't like her right from the beginning but he always stood at her side no matter what.

I was starting to enjoy it at about the 90% mark. Unfortunately, it then ended.

In a word: meh.

Mary Balogh just has a way of writing romances that are not very eventful or flashy but are still so emotionally satisfying.

Marriage of convenience yo! My favourite trope. What can I say, I really loved the characters, especially the entire Bedwyn family. Some people may not like the mechanical way in which this is written, I usually don't like it myself, but it just worked for this story. Above all I loved the maturity of the characters. When they decided to get married for convenience, they did. When they decided to have sex because they found each other hot, they did. They didn't need all the drama. I also loved the glimpses we got of Wulf, and I cannot wait to read his story!
