My favorite book of the Narnia Chronicles so far. A great adventure book with lovely symbolism of Christianity. This one had all the good fun: kings, queens, magic bodies of water, fighting mythical creatures, changing boys into dragons…very good.

Honestly — I liked this book more than its two predecessors. The errant questing format was more enjoyable to me, and the descriptive language, especially at the End of the World, was beautiful. Also, Eustace’s redemption arc was very well done, I think, a especially his vision of Aslan.

I also like how Caspian is made to be more of a relatable character, with his own sense of pride and some ugly moments. I think it humanized him very well, whereas last book he seemed to be more of a set piece much of the time.

This is another I remember not much about, but I know I enjoyed it when I read it back in the late nineties. I remember that Lucy, Edmund and their cousin Eustace find Narnia through a painting of the sea, and then end up on the Dawn Treader. I think I enjoyed the friendship between the children and the growth in Eustace's character, like we got with Edmund in the earlier book, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.
