I've finally got back to this manga after approx. eight weeks away from it. I haven't been reading other manga, nor have I even been watching other anime; I've just been busy with work and exercising (for those keeping track I'm still reading Combat Codes for also the same reasons).
This is an excellent volume that really exploits everything that makes Attack on Titan the jaw-dropping manga phenomenon that it is known to be.
We get saturated with information as we finally see the female titan is revealed to everyone, there is a secret within the walls that protect humanity and we see an epic inner city fight between the female titan and Eren.
There is good character development in here as the stakes are raised and tensions rise which I felt was really applicable considering what was going on.
The artwork was awesome and well drawn by Hajime Isayama as he continues to make the fights look brilliant considering the fast fluidity and brings the titans to life as they spread across the pages.
This is the end of anime season one with one extra chapter. I think this as a collective is a brilliant first manga run and really helped cement that Attack on Titan is a very unique and excellent manga that fully deserves the fanbase and hype that it has and continues to receive.

I really like the big plot twist that also makes a whole bunch of little details come together.
~4.5/5

The first part of this volume was very thoughtful. There are a couple conversations between the characters about humans, good versus bad. It brought up some good points (particularly what Armin says), and it was really well done. And then…
And then something huge is revealed, which I had no idea about, and I was so surprised and excited and it was intense.
And then!
And then something even bigger is revealed, and it’s horrifying and mind-blowing and makes me uneasy just thinking about it. It’s something that, once you know, you can never not know. It’s horrible and terrifying, and I still don’t know how to handle it.
When it’s first shown, I didn’t fully understand it, and then they talked about it later. And I realized what it meant. And I’m sure I looked crazy to all the people around me (I was reading this at school, with people around), because I kept looking up and muttering “holy shit” to myself. I just couldn’t believe it. I can’t believe it. I’m horrified. And I’m utterly terrified on their behalf.
And the fact that this series can blow my mind in such a way, catch me so off-guard and horrify me in such a way that my stomach is actually uneasy, makes this such an amazing series to me. Amazingly well done. And a huge recommendation to everyone. If you haven’t read this series yet, you need to.
I know that there’s more to come, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I got sucked into the story watching the anime with my husband and now I have to read the manga to find out what happens!
Rating 5/5
The first big reveal happens in this volume, when I saw that episode in the anime I was shook!
Foreshadowing:
- chapter 31, Annie says "I'm a failure as a warrior"
- chapter 34, Armin actually predicts the Rumbling when he says "They've been standing inside the walls for at least 100 years... and I think they're going to take a walk soon... all at once"

I'm now to the point where the manga surpasses the anime.
All I have to say is: AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH.
