Okay, talk about a cliffhanger!! I initially didn’t know what to think, and the story started a little slow for me. I read this through the audiobook while reading along with the Wrath & Reign omnibus, and there was something about it that made me keep listening. I’m glad I did because now I HAVE to know what happens next!
Paranormal Romance is not my go-to genre, but this was good. Very low spice.

The plot was fun and interesting. Easy world building. Doesnt get bogged down with a bunch of prose and nonsense.
HOWEVERRRRR the FMC is kind of annoying. She’s frustrating to be frustrating and even in her inner monologue she states that she knows she is purposely frustrating. It’s a level of immaturity and brattiness to say “I don’t like being told what to do so I throw tantrums and do the exact opposite to be spiteful and react in anger” 🙄🙄 I think the author tries to make her funny but it doesn’t land. She’s in a constant state of pity and freak out. She has no self preservation skills. Also she’s kind if stupid.. stabs the demon guy with a knife that is supposed to weaken/kill him then goes “omg is he dying? Because of me?” GIRL BE FOR REAL. You were told what was going to happen.

What a fantastic start to a series. The worldbuilding was a little shaky at first but I enjoyed how Rain slowly learned about the Demon King and what was going on in her world. There's a lot going on plot wise which can feel a little overwhelming at times but it fits the narrative, Rain is being shuffled from place to place and just trying to figure out what it means for her. I can't wait to see where the rest of the series leads Rain and Wrath. I would love to see a book from Wrath's POV to see what he thinks as all of this happens.
