The art was stylistically loose in a way that mostly worked (specially when they used its tendency to blend into itself for metaphor), but did have a few rough edges. I loved the use of pure black pages for spacing, even if the black page with single lines about AI ethics felt a bit on the nose--but I am in tech and none of the words were new, so mileage will vary.

Fun concept and interesting illustrations, but too short to explore in any depth.

2.9 This story felt like the first act of a play. It established characters and built the world, but everything established to potentially create conflict fizzled quickly. The stakes were not page turning and the romance feels like it comes out of nowhere. I got this book expecting a queer storyline but my expectations were too high.

This was a fun, quick read. I very much enjoyed the incorporation of AI and what that might look like in the future, but also the critical view on it through clever headlines scattered throughout the novel.

However, I do think it lacks a lot of depth. I would have loved to get to know the characters and their mental struggles better. Many parts felt rushed (including the ending) and soms transitions felt a bit unnatural.

I still feel it's worth picking up, just for the AI-aspect of it.
